Being Credible Versus Approachable as a Female Leader

We attended an excellent workshop by Tessie Word at WomenEdSGP conference. She shared about five non-verbal hacks that can be used to increase your perceived credibility.

One highlighted idea was the use of your head, voice, and palms. For example, keeping your head still and your voice steady while talking conveys credibility, while moving your head and speaking with a rise and fall intonation improves approachability for listeners. Palms facing down looks credible, while palms facing up looks approachable.

There was some practice time in the session in which we were amazed by the impact some simple tips made on how listeners felt about the same message.

We think of ourselves as quite approachable and we are working on presenting ourselves as credible. Which would you like to develop?
