Parenting with Questions

🥦 We are working on some materials for parents about using a coaching approach in parenting. This is the introduction to an activity where participants will need to take a typical interaction and create a leading or judgmental question and then an open question. Here are our examples so far.

🎽 You can’t go out dressed like that!
🎽 Why are you dressed like that?
🎽 Tell me about your outfit.

🖐🏽 Stop hitting your brother!
🖐🏽 Don’t you think you're hurting your brother by hitting him?
🖐🏽 How do you think your brother feels?

🥦 Eat your broccoli.
🥦 Are you being disobedient by not eating your broccoli?
🥦 What are your thoughts about broccoli? (Followed up with: May I share my thoughts about broccoli?)

Writing these examples made us giggle. 🥦 What are your thoughts about broccoli?
